On Nov 13, 2015, Paris was the scene of multiple mass casualty terrorist attacks that were the most violent and devastating events to occur in France since World War 2, resulting in the deaths of 137 people and injuring 413. On July 14, 2016, France was targeted again in the attack on Nice in which a truck was deliberately driven into crowds celebrating Bastille Day, resulting in the deaths of 87 people and injuring 458. Since the attack on Nice, several further terrorist attacks have occurred in Europe (figure), providing the sad proof that the threat has spread to many countries.
